Keep The Good Times Rolling In Your Relationship

I recently heard someone make the statement that "Good relationships just flow naturally and really don't require as much work." A good relationship has almost more work go into it than a bad one does. Doesn't it make sense that the bad relationship is labeled a bad relationship because it's "flowing naturally"? That shows that neither of the people involved are working on it. Just because you and your partner see eye to eye a majority of the time doesn't mean you don't continue to build on it. My boyfriend and I were best friends for years before we even spoke about having feelings for each other. Our friends always said we'd end up together because of our chemistry. We knew each other better than most people knew us and we still "talked" for a few months before we made our relationship official. We waited because even though we already had such an extraordinary bond as best friends, there were still elements to build on before we moved to the next level. Now here we are over a year into our relationship and we're both convinced that we want to marry each other; I moved all the way to Albuquerque to be closer to him. Yet we still aren't officially engaged because we still have things to build on.

I shared my situation to say that every relationship has different steps to go through especially the good ones. That's how you keep them good, by relationship building and keeping it fresh. Find new things to do together, talk about your feelings, and discuss the future. You can't get too comfortable in the pleasantry of your current relationship. A lot of times when we've had a series of bad relationships once you find that one you've been searching for we mistakenly put it on cruise control. We have to remember that the good relationships are the ones that deserve the real effort.

We have to make sure we're constantly showing appreciation and love to our other half. Taking them for granted will turn the good relationship into a bad one. I take every opportunity to tell my boyfriend how much he means to me and I give him examples of the special things he does that don't go unnoticed. Sometimes I'll even leave him notes to find or simply tell him when we're just sitting around. Guys love to feel appreciated just as much as girls do. Tell your partner what they mean to you every time you even think about it. If you notice how amazing they are what makes you think someone else won't? Don't let that "someone else" be the person they hear it from. Keep your relationship strong by communicating, loving, and interacting on different levels. I promise with those things your good relationship will grow into a great unbreakable relationship and you both be eternally happy.
